My hair is made up of tight Irish curls and can get pretty frizzy and puffy [even with the use of a flat iron]. I usually flat iron every day with a CHI but my first one broke within 2 months of usage. Now, I like my hair but I was wondering if relaxing my hair would be worth it? Will it make my hair unhealthy? If not, should I get a new flat iron? What type?

relaxing your hair would help, but you might not like it, and it certainly won't take the frizz away. I found that the paul mitchel soothing iron works the best, but its kind of hard to find and its abut 200 bucks or so.. but when used with his products it works really well. Usually after I straighten my hair, it feels rough and a little dry. When I used the paul mitchel soothing iron, it locked all the moisture in my hair, it was silky and smooth (not oily) and frizz free, and no matter what I did it stayed perfect unitl I washed it out. Now that is hard to find. Or you can try the ceramic flat iron's, they need to work good too.

It's good for your hair to "rest" for a while. If you put it under high temperature every day, you'll end up ruining it.
Try a porcelain iron. They don't damage hair as much as steel irons do.
You should also use an special shampoo and conditioner. So try 'em for straight hair.
Before you finish ironing your hair, put some protein. We call it "silicone" in here, it will give you lots of bright and the more time you use it, the more healthy it will be your hair.

i would shower then get a blow drier with one of those nozzles on the end. try blow drying it straight then buy a new flat iron and straighten it. use a dryer likwe the 1 in the pic and a straightener like the 1 in the other pic.

I relaxed my hair once and I hated it. I have red/brown Curly hair that holds pencils really well. I flat Iron my hair about once a week (weather permitting). I am looking at getting a perm with HUGE curls so that I can manage my hair better. Rusk has a Permanent Straightener called STR8 that is great from what I have seen with some of my friends. It can cost allot to do it but its better for a white persons hair. My kids have their hair straightened right now cause they are mixed it can be cheaper for them but not me. It sucks but hey what can a girl do. So I figured hey why not big curls rather then flat iron or pay way to much for a permanent deal. We all need to coup with what we have or find a way to help deal with it. Me I am a white girl with a fro and I hate it so much. I feel for you but look into getting bigger curls so it wont hit your pocket hard. I know that is what I am doing this weekend.
