The best brand by far in the UK is GHD - they're not cheap but they're excellent and are used by most hairdressers. They're about 鎷?0 here so that would be around $145.

If it's something cheaper you're after, other decent brands include Toni and Guy, Vidal Sassoon and Babyliss. These products can all be bought on the UK high street and prices start at around 鎷?0.

You can get them in differing sizes to suit your hair style / type.

Don't use drug store purchased haircolor. It's always going to be worse for you than salon grade. I've used both and like them both. Any coloring process that you use on your hair will damage your hair to an extent. I would use Wella personally. The have really nice pre coloring conditioners that help the color last and leave your hair feeling super healthy.

well congrats on your new haircut, change is always good..

if you want to get your hair curly, after your shower, with wet hair bend a little over and apply mousse in the palm of your hands and starting from the ends apply the mousse and scrunch it towards the scalp.... till you get all you hair, then use a blow dryer wit a diffuser if you want and keep on scrunching it up, you don't have to dry it all the way, and if you don't have mousse, hair gel works great too....

Your hair will stay straight until you wash it. Tho w/the oils your scalp produces it may become stringy or a little wavy but not curly until you wash it. But I'd say not washing it for 2 days is ok anything longer is just gross ... then again back in the day some women use to go and get their hair "wash/set" each week for the week... I'm 34 and I know that my hair still gets oily and nasty even if it is one or two days...

Just a little FYI, the special edition CHI's, such as the one your friend has, don't work as well at the normal edition. I used to work in a beauty supply store that sold Chi Irons, and I've heard this complaint from alot of customers. Provided it's for a good cause, it still probably won't give you the same effect as the normal CHI.

A little more info, if you're in the market for a straightener, choose the Paul Mitchell smoothing iron. Your hair stays pin straight until you wash it, and it also makes your hair feel smooth, and silky. Alot of people say they prefer this iron over the CHIs.

Anyways, to answer your question lol, your hair will stay straight until you wash it, provided you don't live in drastic humidity, and you don't go out in the rain without your head covered. If you decide to go a few days without washing your hair, you may need to touch your hair up a bit again with the straightener, since you'll be sleeping on it and it make get a little messed up.

Girl, I'm with you. I've been having the same problem since I was little. What I did was finding a good hairdresser to cut my hair with those razor-y blade, form it into a cute layered look and use some relaxer every now and then.

If things got way uncontrollable, I just go "big hair" with my curling iron. It works wonders all the time, because sometimes the 'too much' attempt of making it look flat just does not help at all.

you can get a relaxer on it..... that loosens the bond on not so straight hair, and it will be more easier to straighten just to touch it up.. and it will be easier to manage... and if you keep it wrapped, it will have body and stay flat as well... i don't know what race you are not to disrespect but of you are a woman of color you can go to the beauty salon and get a relaxer on it, i don't know if you are white if they do that but i don't see why not... but in women of color relaxers are more used so you might have to go to a black hair salon to get your hair straightened.... i would get a consultation with a hairdresser so you can get more info on what you need to do because if you relax it you can bypass straightening it every single day.

From what you are describing, it sounds like you have natural curl in that head of hair. Hello there... The missing hair could be allergies food reaction fleas hard to say. About your dogs male problem if he's that old more than likely his testicle will not drop you will have to take him in to the vet. O and get him neutered male dogs in tacked are at a higher rate of getting testicle cancer no I'm not a vet but my 21 years of working in the pet business I have seen cancer in young dogs male and female that have not been fixed there at a greater risk for cancer not to mention some male dogs left in tacked can have attitude problems and yes I have had to deal with dogs like that.

at night before bed. I do this because it takes too much time in the morning to let partially air dry and then do the whole blow out process. I am able to get it perfectly straight with the help of a blowdryer (T3 Tourmaline evolution dryer) and a chi farouk flat iron. The problem is that when I wake up, it is curly again (not as curly as natural, but humid day style curly). If I flat iron it, it just gets that burnt out end look that is gross. So I blow it out dry and flat iron it again. It takes time, but not nearly as right out of the shower. I know that it cannot be healthy for my hair even though I use nothing but the best styling tools and procucts. I have tried sleeping with velcro rollers, but having large cylinders pinned to my skull doesn't make for a comfortable nights sleep. So my question is, is there anything that I can do to maintain my blowout overnight? Any styling tips, products or tools that you can recommend would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If your hairs in bad condition try some weekly conditioning treatments or over night mask. (try ghd)

Always use a leave in conditioner and make sure you protect the hair whilst blowing and straightening. I find that Aussie miracle hair insurance and Paul Mitchell seal and shine works best for me.

i have the exact same problem. all you have to do is clip your hair alll the way in the top of you head in a bun but not tight because then it leaves a mark. that gets your hair out of the way. in the morning just use the flat iron for any little messed up parts and you can just blow out the end so they won't look crispyy

Use Chi Oil. It works great. If I straighten my hair at night, I usually have to just do a quick 'touch up' in the morning. Your hair gets curly again because of the humidity in the air. The Chi Oil really helps me. Plus, you can use some frizz-free kind of oil. I havent really found one of those that I like.

you should wrap your hair at night. You can't just sleep on it after you blow dry it. I've done that (cus i hve curl hair too) if you wrap it it should come out better ad you also have to get something to cover it with when you wrap it.

i just bought a SEDU and it works wonders! my hair is very thick like you say yours is and the SEDU keeps my hair straight in humid weather and for many hours. it really does cut your straightening time in half.

so if you are looking for a straightener get the SEDU.

Well CHI is one of the BEST flat irons you can get. But I don't know about the whole silky part. Cause my friend has a CHI and she straightens her hair and it takes out her curls the first try. Like she takes the CHI and puts it on her hair and straightens her hair and the curls come out the first time. She doesn't have to redo it or anything and it only takes her about 5 min to straighten all her hair.

But........She has like really frizzy and curly hair. And it doesn't leave her hair silky. It kinds does but not really.

So long as it was only your hair damaged on this side of the follicle, your follicle should be fine. Get a decent cut in your hair and if your hair is still damaged as you are growing it - get it trimmed regularly - it will look much better.

Chi's do not last long. Don't waste your money, and don't listen to the one's that are telling you it's the best. Sedu is one of the best straighteners out there and it is only $100.

Also, with GHD's, I wouldn't reccommend them because of the price. Sedu is a lot better for cheaper.

I would also recommend using a 1 inch instead of 1 1/2 inch, because the 1 1/2 doesn't do curls very well.

If you never put conditioner enough in your hair yes it will. Whenever you blow-dry or flat iron your hair use heat protection spray. From Brands like V05 or Got 2b. They work well and make your hair very smooth and straight without heat damage. Also wash your hair with a good shampoo and conditioner to revive and refresh your hair from all the heat if your going to flat iron your hair alot.

The Chi is by far the best. I have shoulder-length, very thick, sort of wavy hair and the Chi works perfectly!!! I have had mine for a while and it hasn't broken. Some of the people that had their's break probably dropped it in water or something. The Chi is the perfect size for doing anything to you hair. ok- so the chi is the best, although it is a little pricy- about $120. but the great thing about them is the have a lifetime warranty!! get your receipt, and if anything ever goes wrong with it you can send it back in and they will fix it. i believe it is a $15 charge. good luck

I have the same problem, usually its just humidity for me. What i do, is spray it either with a anti-frizz spray, or wax. Then i use a hairspray that is designed to fight moisture, i can't honestly remember the name but look around in a place like Ulta and you'll find something.

If you still have trouble, ask a hair stylist, they'll probably be more help than me :) Good luck.

I am a licensed cosmetologist and I recommend not flat ironing it everyday! Having said that, try infusium or pro vive serum for heat styling. I have really curly and frizzy (uggggh, it's horrible :' D) hair too, and the wet to straight irons don't work for me. My hair is really thick, and even if you use a really small section of your hair, you still have to use multiple passes of the iron just to dry your hair. If you are planning on straightening you hair quickly from it being initially wet, I would recommend (from personal experience, this is what works for me . . . ) just blow drying your hair. This is usually not a good idea because it makes it sooo frizzy, but this is the most practical solution first if you're going to straighten it anyways. Then, I use the CHI silk infusion and heat treatment set in the red bottle (apply liberally . . . ) and then straighten my hair with the CHI straightener (I use the tourmaline ceramic one, it costs a little more but it is absolutely the best -- and the only -- straightener that works for my hair and it only takes one pass to straighten it). This method could work for you (it does for me . . . and my hair's a beast lol), but I would strongly advise you not to buy a wet to straight iron (as I said, my friend has one and it did NOT work for me at all :( ). I like the first kind better, it's the type I normally use and it works like a dream. It's supposedly for 'thin lifeless hair' which makes me laugh because i have thick hair but it still works well.

I suggest buying both kinds and seeing which works for you.

MAKE sure you're washing your hair right, make sure you wash out all the shampoo and don't put too much conditioner in.

A few suggestions:

Get a long-layered-face-framing haircut (bangs if you want them). Use Purity shampoo and Always Smooth conditioner by Pantene. Before you blow dry apply Chi Silk Infusion. for shampoo i use a clarifying shampoo and it looks really cheap but it works wonders then use a sunsilk conditioner (in a purple bottle) the chi should work really good so keep that.

after u do that then take John Freda frizz serum and use a penny size all over your hair and comb it.

Place the irons about 4cm from the scalp grasping the hair and then, using a twisting action with the wrist, slowly turn the irons rotating while wrapping the hair around the iron. Hello. i came across your quesion and even though it was from December 2005 i see nobody ever answered you. My name is Natasha and I am a hair stylist and have been for 7 years. My salon lives thrives off of all farouk products. With the chi straightener you can curl your hair as follows: Take a few patches of hair at a time. Approximately half of your fore finger length and curl it in the form of a spiral (SHIRLEY TEMPLE CURLS). Be sure to start the hair from the tip and spiral up to your scalp and hokd it there for approxiametly 15-20 seconds (BE SURE NOT TO BURN YOURSELF) and loosely pull the chi down in a spiraling position and WAA LAA....BEAUTIFUL SOFT CURLS. this will goves you a full bouncy look. And if you just want some loose flowing curls follw the sme direction except do not spiral the curls. Curl them as you would with a curling item. I am a hairstylist and suggest getting the "Croc". This is the newest thing and waaaaaaaaay better then the CHI. I have been using this for a year now and nothing is better. I had a CHI until it fell on the ground and busted. I was introduced to this flat iron and love it. My Croc has also fallen on the floor more then once and has never broken.

Also if you are using the flat iron alot make sure that you are putting something on your hair before you use it. There are numerous products out there for this. Also this will cut down on the frizz!!

In all reality whenever you put heat on your hair you're damaging it. But the best way to flat iron african american hair is too use an iron with ceramic plates and also use some kind of heat tamer or protectant so your hair doesn't fry.

Oh yeah, chis are ceramic so they're good just make sure you're setting on the dial isn't too high or you could burn your hair.

i am a stylist, and chi is one of the best flat irons you can get. just make sure that you use a flat iron product, like camera ready by bed head. if you don't use a product between your hair and the heat, you will burn your hair. and its okay that it smokes when you make the first pass on the hair with the spray on it. its burning the product and heating your hair. this is what you want. you don't want to fry your hair

Use a thermal protectant spray or other thermal protectant styling product before ironing. You can find these at a drugstore, or talk to your hairstylist. As for the CHI, it is one of the better ones to use. Whatever iron you get, make sure it has 100% ceramic or tourmaline ceramic plates, that is the only way to prevent hot spots that fry your hair. Also look for one with ionic technology, which helps restore moisture and prevent frizz.

I highly reccomend the CHI I've had mine for 3 years and it still works great. I can't say that I ever had problems with it.I have really curly think hair and you would never guess it after I straighten it! For the damage part I would get a product to use before you straighten to protect from breaking.

Fructis or Frizz-ease serums will help with the friz along with the Fructis leave-in conditioner ... Aussie also has a conditioning mousse which i use for my frizzy-curly days ... I used to use a product called Infusion Leave-in conditioner, thinking about trying it again ...

If you use a straightner to curl your hair, you need to take small pieces at a time and start at the top of your scalp [dont burn you head though] and then wrap that piece of hair around the whole straightner. Makes sure the hair piece you are curling is small that way it can heat better and end up holding and looking overall better.

2. grasp a small section of hair spray lightly w/ hairspray

3. start at the top

4.twist the chi around the hair slightly moving down the section.

ok well i've straightened my hair hundreds of times but today its kinda humid out and its like mid 80s temperatures. dont get me wrong, its not really humid just a little bit.

well anyway im going on a date w/ my boyfriend today and im gona be outside a lot and i wanted to know if after i straighten my hair would it be ok if i lightly spray garnier hairspray on it so that it wont get frizzy and poofy again due to the humidity? or will the hairspray just make it frizzy and ruin the whole straightening job?

if u have any baby oil that'll help a lot. I use "straighten up" conditioner on my ends. My hair is thick ("bulky") and it frizzes a bit, however it is not curly, just a little wavy and thick. I use some heat protetcant. When I'm first done straightning it looks realllllllly good. Then I might go outside for less than 2 or 3 minutes, is that enough to make my hair a little frizzy? Also for the last two days my school has been hot, because the A/C transformer didn't work. So what gives? why after about a half an hour after school starts my hairs a little flippy and frizzy. some hair just straightens better than others, whether you're using a Chi or two metal spatulas. i can onlt suggest using a light hairspray to keep the hair straight, but if there is a lot of humidity, your hair is just not geing to stay straight because there is just too much moisture in the air. You can be outside in humidity for less than a minute and see the effects of moisture in the air wreaking havoc on your hair.

I'm an absolute fanatic of straighteners and when it comes to ironers, money is everything. If you want a straightener that does the job and you want excellent results above everything else, then you should be aiming for one between $200-$300 (over $300 is a bit absurd, unless money's not a problem for you!). First and foremost you should look for an ironer which has ceramic/titanium metal plates as these do not damage your hair like stainless steel ones. I have been told by a sales assistant at Shavers Shop that GHD plates are not full ceramic but are just coated in ceramic which will eventually chip and wear off over time (not sure if this is true) but I use silver bullet titanium/ceramic plates which is beatuiful! ($220)
