I'm looking to buy a flat iron to curl my hair with because curling irons aren't giving me the results I want. I've done extensive research on reviews, and so far Sedu seems to be very popular; but some blogs say that folica.com is part of Sedu's company, so that is why the site pushes the product so much. Some customers have also complained that their Chi or Sedu break down after a few months' use.
Anyone who has tested any of the 3 brands of irons, which is best for curling? I'm looking for something that will give a long lasting curl for stubbornly straight Asian hair, smooth and shine, and not break or stop working after a few months. Looking to spend $100 or less, so this is why I picked these 3 brands.
Chi vs. Sedu vs. Solia Flat Irons?
I own both. The Sedu is very lightweight and heats up quickly. The CHI is a little heavier, and supposedly easy to short out.
my views:
SEDU:
1) Lightweight
2) Straightens better
3) Does not catch hair or break hair
4) Have temperature control (good)
5) Heats up fast
6) Hair softer and shiny for my thick hair.
CHI:
1) Heavier
2) Cheaper
3) Straightens well
4) No temperature control (fixed temp)
5) Breaks easily
I prefer Sedu.
Chi vs. Sedu vs. Solia Flat Irons?
Chi would win!!
Chi vs. Sedu vs. Solia Flat Irons?
i'm asian too! and i have extremely stubborn hair. My friend just bought me the Sedu Revolution Professional Nano Tourmaline Ionic 1" Styling Iron one month ago. And all i can say is that its amazing. I can make really nice curls with it. I dont even need to use hair spray to keep the curls in place.
It leaves my hair soo smooth and my hair looks healthier. LOL
I have a Chi flat iron too. I think its really good, but I have to use hair spray with it and i get a lot of split ends.
My friend has a Solia iron.. I used it once and i don't think its the best iron... I got tons of split ends... and i used a heat protector cream... but i got ok curls from this iron. its pretty ok.
but i would recommend sedu. I personally think thats the best styling iron out there.
Chi vs. Sedu vs. Solia Flat Irons?
I have sedu chi and solia. I love sedu.
Why Sedu -
Virtually no snagging while I am flat ironing. The plates are so smooth and it doesn't snag my hair. Leaves my hair silky smooth and straight.
The chi iron doesn't even compare to the Sedu IMHO. I used my friend's chi and my old cheap conair iron is just as good as that one. I still had kinks and it didn't make my hair as silky as the sedu.
Solia is slightly better than chi.
