im new at straightening my hair, i know i should use the iron when my hair is dry, but are there any other products i should use too?

i bought a CHI iron about 2 hours ago and im planning on using it tonight

There is a special kind of spray that you can spray on before you straighten your hair. there are many brands you can use. It prevents damage and it keeps you hair straight until you wash it. It's better if you don't straighten your hair when it's wet because it can damage your hair and create split ends.

i use paul mitchell straight works gel, it works really good to defrizz hair and help it to get smooth. other than the blow drying it straight then smoothing with flat iron that is all i do. just be sure to do small sections at a time and be patient, depending on your hair length, it could take a few minutes to get it all done. im sure it will look fine. oh yeah and the other thing i do is use a shaping spray, it helps with frizz and to keep my hair from being too soft to manage.
