So I love my hair when i straighten it. I do everything to try to get it that way, I blow dry, i use a straightening serum, and shampoo, conditioner and a whole bunch of other products. I even used to have the infiniti by conair but now i got the chi and i LOVE it...for the longer layers, it stays srtaight all day. Now here's my problem. I used to have long hair, and now its 2 inches past my shoulders with layers going all the way to my checkbone. It looks good, but I miss my long hair. I know it grows 1/2 in. a month, but I need to know this. How do I get the layers straight?? The rest of the long layers are, but not the short ones. They fan out, or flip. Sometimes it doesnt look like i straightened them! Why put my hiar thorugh 400 degrees if it just goes back to fanning out?? Please help! What can I do to not make my short layer fan out?
Flat ironing hair question (with layers)?
Try CHI Iron Guard...it's a thermal spray, but it's also a style holder...it keeps that hair straight!! lol Mine does the same because I have lots of layers and they all end up flipping out unless I use the Iron Guard.
And I live in south Mississippi. It's nice and humid here.
But the Iron Guard holds it.

Well, what I would suggest is that when you straighten it out, flip towards the inside instead of pulling it towards the opposite side of your head...thats what I used to do when my hair was short.

i have basically the same hairstyle, and all my layers go staright, when you straighten your hair put it in layers and starighten in, also hold it in the air for the shorter layers on top so it wont frizz, or flip.
goodluck
hope i helped

My hair does this sometimes. Okay, when you're ironing, make sure you section your hair out and do thin sections at a time. If you try and iron a big wad of hair, you'll never get the ends straight. Pull straight down your hair with the flat iron, or turn your hair slightly under with it. Also, you may want to get some wax or pomade, put a tiny bit on the ends only (not too much or it will look greasy), then iron over it. In a pinch, hairspray will do this job, but ironing over hairspray too many times may cause damage.
