Is the CHI actually better than everyday straighteners? How?

I have a Remington Wet2Straight straightener that I use nearly on a daily basis. It takes forever to straighten my hair with it and doesn't always get the job done. My friend has a CHI and she says that it straightens in nearly 1 swipe. I've used it before, and it proved to be truer than I thought. Is it entirely true, or was it just beginners luck? What makes it actually work better? Tons of hair straighteners claim to be 'ceramic', but are some lying? Is that the difference? I'm just sick of my straightener. It smells horrible when it's on too.

most straighteners that say they are "ceramic" are usually just ceraminc coated...meaning they're not really ceramic. this is especially true if the straightener is under $80...a true ceramic straightener will cost anywhere from $80 - $200, depending on the brand, size, and max temp. it reaches.

ceramic is best, because it doesn't burn your hair like a metal or gold one will. you still need to protect your hair with heat protectors, use lots of conditioner, and get trims on a regular basis, because heat is heat, and overuse will damage your hair.

also, the more expensive irons have evenly heated plates, unlike some of the cheaper ones, which get hot spots and cool spots, which will burn your hair in one spot and not even straighten in another.

the CHI is definetly one of the best straighteners on the market. the Paul Mitchell one uses the same techniology, is the same price, and has a temperature control setting, which the CHI does not. if you have fine hair, you shouldn't be using extreme heat, because you don't need it, and it WILL damage your hair.

yes, CHI's are great, they get really hot, which is why your hair gets straight in almost one swipe (sometimes it takes 2) but they also dont fry your hair, CHI's are great and worth every penny, if you ask me.

Daily use of straighteners can be very bad for ur hair! try to blow dry once and a while would be less damaging i dont like remington hair straighteners as their useless i use GHD's i dont know if you have them in the US but their really wortj the money all the celebs in UK swear by it check the site out www.ghdhair.com
