Why is my chihuahua's hair getting lighter?

I have an 8 year old chi. I got him 3 years ago, and when I rescued him his fur was light brown. Now it seems it keeps getting lighter. Like almost white, mostely on his head. Is this old age?? Is it normal??

Yes, it's just old age creeping up on him...Just like humans, dogs get gray hair as they get older...Starting around the face...Don't fret ! It's perfectly normal... :-)

no your chihuahua is not getting older. he is just changing colors, its normal. i have a chihuahua and she changed colors. but its very normal. so dont worry about it.

I have a 9 1/2 half year old black and tan Chi. When he was about 7 I noticed he went from black and tan to black and white practically overnight!!! Also some black whiskers are now replaced by white ones. I tell him he's getting to be an old man and looks at me thinking 'So are you!' It's normal but I have to admit I was pretty surprised. This is my first dog and I have to get used to the fact my baby is aging. Just keep an eye that he doesn't gain too much weight and think about a senior dog food that is enriched with glucosamine.
