Chi's are the best. When you go to straighten.. when you pull at the bottom instead of going straight down do it with a little curve or spiral.

once you flaten the part of hair you want flattend you bend the flat iron near the end of your hair where you want it to curl.

If you have a flat iron with rounded edges just pull it the end and bend your hair up.

The ceramic flat irons are usually rounded at the edges but the metal ones have that flat edge.

okay listen: u can not do this with every flat iron.u need a very good and very smaal and thin one so you flat your hair like u do it everytime and when u finished u only take the ends into your flat iron and put it from the in to the outside to get curles falling to outside or put it from outside to inside to get inside curls..........

What you want to do is called a "flip". You don't want your flat iron to be much larger than 1 inch. If you have a flat iron larger than that, then the heat plates must have rounded edges (or you will not be able to flip too high... at least not very easliy).

How:

As you're going down the length of your hair with your flat iron, when you hit like an inch away from the ends, slowly rotate the flat iron towards your head, while still firmly keeping the plates together. It may take a couple tries for you to get the right speed and flick of the wrist, but its not difficult. You'll be flipping your hair in no time!

As for Chis... yes, they are good, but over priced. If your hair isn't a natural afro, hell even if it is, you don't have to spend 150 for a good flat iron. For 50 dollars, you can get a good ceramic flat iron from Sally's (and they have a 90 day return policy with receipt if you find you don't like the product, so you really cam lose). I personally use Ion's Color Brilliance Wet-to=Dry iron, which was 90 dollars, and its my best friend :P.
